FIXED WIRELESS SOLUTIONS

Where does your service come from?

We use a terrestrial fixed wireless system that has been deployed throughout the Reno, Sparks, Carson City, and Lake Tahoe area.

If I have your service, can I still have my own wireless network?

Yes. Our service does not interfere with current 802.11b or 802.11g network devices.

Will other people be able to pick up the signal coming to and from my house?

No. Our system has multiple layers of security to prevent people from intercepting, siphoning, or impersonating our customers signals. We use a proprietary modulation, 3DES encryption, and equipment based authentication to prevent unauthorized access to our customers wireless traffic.

How can I determine if I can get service?

The best way to determine if you can get service is to contact us via this web site. Be sure to submit the physical address where you would like to get service. We will place you address in a special program that will let us know with a high degree of accuracy whether we can service your area or not. You can also call us directly at 775.284.9434; a qualified service representative will take the appropriate information to determine if we can provide service.

What is you coverage area?

Our coverage area ranges as far north as Palomino Valley, and as far south as Minden / Gardnerville. We also have service to areas of Dayton, Virginia City, and Fernley. Click here for our coverage map.

What equipment will I need to get your service?

You will need a Subscriber module to receive our signal. This is mounted to the outside of your house. If you are further than 5 miles from our nearest Access Point then a small reflector dish will be required to confine and boost the signal. The dish is roughly the size of todays satellite TV dishes. We will install a lightning arrestor to protect our equipment and your connecting device. You may interface with our service with any Ethernet 10BaseT/100BaseTX RJ-45 device. We highly recommend that you purchase a firewall router in order to connect to our service.

Can I connect multiple computers?

Yes. You can connect multiple computers to our service using a number of networking devices and topologies. We recommend using a router or a wireless router to connect multiple computers to our service. Follow the links below to learn more about the different options you have when building a home network.

What type of routers do you recommend?

Our network has been designed to interface with most off the shelf Cable/DSL Broadband Routers. We recommend wired and wireless products from the following vendors: Linksys, D-Link, Netgear, Snapgear, and Belkin.

What type of routers do you not recommend?

We do not recommend Microsoft Network brand products.

Is the service encrypted?

Yes. Our system has multiple layers of security to prevent people from intercepting, siphoning, or impersonating our customers signals. We use a proprietary modulation, 3DES encryption, and equipment based authentication to prevent unauthorized access to our customers wireless traffic.

How to prevent people from connecting to your wireless network.

There are several basic steps you can take to increase the security of your Wi-Fi home network. The first thing you should always do is change your Wi-Fi router's password and SSID. Next you can enable MAC Address Filtering, this will configure your router to only accept connections from specific devices. You can also enable WEP or WPA security. This will both encrypt your wireless traffic and require connection authentication. Finally, you can disable the SSID broadcast option on your router. This will prevent your router from advertising its presence. Please contact your equipment vendor for detailed configuration instructions.
